World Most Expensive Poster

Metropolis PosterAn original poster for the 1927 science fiction film Metropolis by Fritz Lang has sold for a world record price of $690,000 to an American collector name Ken Schacter. The previous record was for the 1932 classic The Mummy which went for $452,000.

This Metropolis is one of only four known copies still out there. One is held by the Museum of Modern Art in New York, another by the Berlin Film Museum and the other is in a private collection.

Ken Schacter states that,

This is one of the best film images of all time and probably the most sought-after poster in the world.

I have been collecting for more than 25 years and this is the poster that best combines a truly great film with a truly great work of art to publicise it.

I don’t knowif you remember me? I’m up in Lancaster, ca. in the Antelope Valley, you bought a lot of posters, pressbook, etc.. I’m getting ready to move down to San Diego and will be selling off all remaining posters, books, magazines, model figures, etc.. Let me know if you’d be interested in driving up and checking an of the items.
